Ellen began her career as a commercial food and tabletop photographer.
Her mother’s art glass collection and appreciation of everything
glass began her foray into the world of glass fusing and in 2014
she began making fused glass plates, platters and bowls
to use in her food photographs.
The beauty of these glass pieces cemented Ellen’s love for the
medium and sparked her interest in jewelry making, which
she has been doing ever since.
On the recommendation of friends who wore her pendants and earrings
and were often asked where the pieces could be purchased,
Ellen decided to expand her operations and make her
work available to a broader audience.
Fused glass pieces begin with cutting glass into shapes and
layering them together. Once all the layers of the pieces have been glued
into place, they’re put in the kiln and fired.
The texture of each one is determined by the temperature
in the kiln. The combination of the placement of the cut glass and
the heat during firing makes each piece unique.
